Travel Stories: Homecoming to Slovakia.

After 24 years of “Over the Ocean” immigration, I am going home to Slovakia. I will embark on a reverse journey to my homeland. This journey started way back during pre-Covid19 times – then last year everything collapsed in front of my eyes due to Covid19. While waiting for all travel requirements to align, I reflected on “Who I Was and Who I Am Becoming.”

I did my internal checking in and compared my personal notes. With excitement and trepidation, I will enter my mother’s land, a country where I still speak the language and understand jokes about us — Slovaks/ Slavic without interpretation. I look forward to enjoying the richness of Slovak culture in music, food, nature and lifestyle.

I am aware that time has changed on both sides. I will enter the country with an open heart and eyes to experience decades of life changes — I hope for good.  When I look through nature’s lens, Slovakia could be called “Little Switzerland”. Did you know that Slovakia features natural landscapes, mountains, caves, medieval castles and towns, folk architecture, spas and ski resorts?

Pay attention to TRENCIN castle, the nearest castle close to my home.

My homeland visit holds the promise of an amazing journey of the country rediscovery as well as my own life unfolding.

If you are a Slovak/ Foreigner Slovak, or somebody who always wanted to know more about this central European country, join me on my travels by following this blog, and see what I will encounter. I will be posting my current findings following my own Slovak wellness pathway through my memories and having fun along the way.
